Tales from the Edge uncovers the stories founders rarely tell, the moments when everything hung in the balance, and the choices that determined whether their companies would fail, survive, or achieve extraordinary growth.

By hearing directly from leaders who stood at the edge, we turn hard-won experience into insight, courage, and guidance for the entrepreneurs who follow.

Chris Miller has spent his career doing something most people underestimate: getting the right people into the room at exactly the moment it matters most. From Google and Goldman Sachs to Boston Consulting Group’s incubator/VC arm where he helped launch dozens of startups. Chris has consistently operated where the stakes are highest. He then went on to help scale a string of high-pressure, high-growth startups, partnering with founders who needed to build fast and couldn’t afford to get it wrong.

As employee #38 at Endpoint, a BCG-incubated proptech company, he helped scale the business from Series A to Series D, growing the team to 450+ people while personally leading every C-suite and VP-level search along the way.

A 2× founding Head of Talent and now Managing Partner of TalentIQ Advisors, Chris understands how much rides on the people decisions made in a startup’s earliest, most fragile moments—and what it costs when those decisions go sideways. On Tales from the Edge, he brings a recruiter’s instinct for character and an insider’s eye for what separates the founders who make it from the ones who don’t.

Chris is available to support companies scaling their talent acquisition functions. You can reach him at chris@tales-from-the-edge.com.

Neil Wilks has spent 25+ years inside the engine rooms of some of the world's most demanding startups and scale-ups and he's rarely been the person watching from a safe distance. As Chief People Officer at Dronamics, the world's first cargo drone company, he helped grow the business from 20 people to 180 across seven countries, built its first executive team from scratch, and navigated the kind of founder friction, regulatory complexity, and near-impossible resource constraints that would break most organizations.

Before that, he was deep in the trenches at SoundCloud, Amazon Music, Nokia, and Moda Operandi, where he led the company through the Covid-19 pandemic, restructuring, stabilizing, and keeping the lights on when everything was on the line.

Neil has sat across the table from founders at their most uncertain, most stubborn, and most vulnerable and he's learned that the moments people least want to talk about are usually the ones with the most to teach. As co-host of Tales from the Edge, he brings a sharp ear for the human story beneath the business headline, and a deep respect for anyone who has ever bet everything on an idea and refused to quit.

Neil is available for general business and human resources advisory consultancy, you can reach out directly to him on neil@tales-from-the-edge.com.
